Your first visit with our Bellingham dentist will be about a 90-minute appointment.
During this time you will have X-rays that allow us to examine the structure of your jaw, the position of any teeth that have not yet erupted, malformed roots and any tooth decay you may be experiencing.
In addition, we will take photographs of your teeth, perform periodontal charting and an exam.
We shall also perform a review of your medical history. When you share your medical history, be sure to provide complete, up-to-date information on your health. Inform our staff, if you have experienced a recent hospitalization or surgery, or if you have been ill.
Also tell us the names, doses and frequency of any medications you are taking — whether prescription or over-the-counter products — and the name of your physician. Inform us of any changes in your health or medications. This information will help us select the safest and most effective method of treatment for you.

Regular Checkups
We recommend regular checkups as early as one year old. Visitation to the dentist during this early stage in life can help establish good oral habits, decrease dental anxiety, and help the child to become familiar with the dentist and staff. Regular checkups are essential to:
- Check for problems you might not see or feel
- Find early signs of decay
- Treat oral health problems early, while they are still manageable
Regular checkups include a thorough cleaning and polishing, as well as an oral exam by our Bellingham dentist.
During the oral exam, the dentist will check the health of your mouth, teeth, gums, cheeks and tongue.
If you have any fillings or other restorative work, these will be examined as well, because constant pressure from chewing, grinding or clenching can cause them to become damaged.
Cleaning at during your regular check up will typically take about an hour. Patients are seen by appointment only. We make every effort to be on time for our dental patients, and we ask that you extend the same courtesy to us.
If you cannot keep an appointment, please notify us at least 24 hours prior to your scheduled appointment time.
